Lieutenant General Jean Tristan Verna Speaks at International Armoured Vehices this February 2011

Since August 2007, Lieutenant General Jean Tristan Verna, Director, Integrated Operational Land Equipment Maintenance, French MoD has been chief of the Land Equipment maintenance Joint Organisation (SIMMT). He is “commandeur” of the Légion d’Honneur and “commandeur” of the Ordre National du Mérite, and has been awarded the Cross of Honour (silver) of the Bundeswehr after his tour in Bosnia.

Armoured vehicles through life costs, the new driver for fleet procurement and management:
The French Army is engaged in a huge renewal and upgrading phase of its armoured vehicle fleets. However at the same time, the French Army must manage and control the increase of direct costs of platform ownership through a new model of support and by working towards three directions: the design of equipment and fleets themselves, the organisation of support linked with the equipment employment and the relations with industry. The guarantee of controlling the support costs is became one of the main decision factors in the procurement procedures.
