At the forthcoming International Armoured Vehicle conference I have been asked to deliver a presentation regarding the analysis and elimination of the capability gap in the current and future UK armoured combat vehicles fleet.
I shall be delivering an explanation of the route we took to identify and close this gap. In essence what we did was take reports from the operational troops regarding areas where they felt they could make use of increased capability. From there I took the path of analysing the functionality required to produce that increase. Once we had closely examined that functionality and defined the ways in which it might be optimised I, with my project managers then set about identifying the technologies we might adopt to achieve it.
So my presentation will be an examination of the turret and weapon system functions and the ways in which they may be delivered with enhanced capability. Of necessity specific details and commercially sensitive areas may not always be fully described but I feel I will be able to cover the subject in sufficient detail for the delegates to get a useful understanding of the “How and What” of the capability enhancement programme we are following.
I look forward to seeing you all In February,
